Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

"These kinds of items being sold, normally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no warranty about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the result drugs like this may have on your health."
